All the proceeds from their classes from April to June are donated to Playeum, a Singapore IPC charity that empowers children from all backgrounds, especially those from marginalised communities and varying needs. Playeum equips adults with knowledge and tools to transform homes, classrooms and communities where children can thrive as the best versions of themselves. It's The Power of Play!

Get to experience the Northern Lights in Singapore with Borealis, a new immersive light and sound installation at Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove!

Created by Switzerland-based artist Dan Acher, Borealis is an outdoor art installation that combines layers of light and cloud particles where the magical splendour of the Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, is recreated to illuminate the night skies of Supertree Grove. Accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois, variations in wind, humidity and temperature make this installation a fascinating blend of art and technology, an ever-changing experience, where each encounter is unique and where nature holds the final say.  

Borealis has travelled to more than 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, and the experience at Gardens by the Bay will mark its first time in Singapore.

Join  us at the Swiss Club for an inspiring evening with Dr. Hannes Schmid, one of  Switzerland's most significant photo-artists and a passionate social entrepreneur. In his talk, "Human Capital, The Smiling Gecko  Project," Hannes Schmid will take us on a journey to the heart of  Cambodia, to the Smiling Gecko Campus located north of Phnom Penh. This project, spearheaded by his NGO, focuses on providing education, training,  and sustainable income in sectors such as education, agriculture, tourism,  and crafts to thousands of Cambodians.

Listeners will be introduced to the "Smiling Gecko Principle," a  holistic approach to aid that diverges from the traditional NGO model. By prioritizing education and investment in human capital, the project aims for a sustainable improvement in the living conditions within the community. Dr. Hannes Schmid's vision is to create a model for a self-sufficient, rural community that, after an initial startup period, operates autonomously. The lecture  promises to be a source of inspiration, demonstrating the impact of dedication and heartfelt commitment to making a significant difference in a short amount of time.

Complementing the evening's insights and discussions, attendees will be treated to a delightful buffet dinner. This will provide an excellent opportunity for guests to mingle, discuss the lecture, and share ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.

About Hannes Schmid: Born in Zurich, Dr. Hannes Schmid is today one of the most important  photo-artists in Switzerland. His travels took him around the world, where he  developed his own characteristic visual language as an advertising, fashion and freelance photographer, characterized by personal ties to the objects.  Dr. Hannes Schmid achieved worldwide fame with his staging of the iconic  cowboy - the Marlboro Man. He toured with some of the world biggest rock  stars such as Queen, AC/DC, ABBA, Status Quo or Boomtown Rats who he portrayed in over 70,000 photos. He also  was a leading creative for the Formular One Racing Team of BAR Honda with  whom he realised spectacular media stunts such as the land speed world record  attempt at the Bonville Salt Flats. Since 2012, he has been involved in  humanitarian activities for children and families in Cambodia, one of the  poorest countries in the world, with the non-profit association Smiling  Gecko.
